"I would like to spread the word about acupuncture at Pinehurst Healing Arts in Washington Heights to those women who are trying to conceive. After about 8 IUI attempts and one unsuccessful IVF treatment, I was open to anything that may improve my chances.
I read dozens of articles about acupuncture and fertility and asked my doctor at my fertility clinic for his advice. He was surprisingly positive about studies that have shown acupuncture to increase the chances of conceiving. So, I decided to try acupuncture even though I had never gone for acupuncture before.
I was referred to Jeanne Atkin by another acupuncturist and began consistently going for weekly treatments before my 3rd IVF treatment. To my surprise, I found the acupuncture treatments at Pinehurst Healing Arts with Jeanne Atkin had a number of benefits:
While my treatments varied depending on what stage of my IVF cycle or pregnancy I was in, I was often able to feel increased circulation or blood flow as a result of the treatments.
Jeanne spent time before each session understanding how I was doing and explaining why and what treatment she was giving me. This openness made it easier for me to have confidence in the treatments and be relaxed.
Because I was seeing her regularly, Jeanne was often able to integrate treatments for non-pregnancy related conditions – like stress from work, a cold, etc. Jeanne also gave me lots of helpful advice along the way to help me with the discomforts of pregnancy.
I found the nearly hour-long treatments to be deeply relaxing; I usually fell asleep during the treatment! I’m convinced that setting aside one hour a week for my own relaxation helped foster a successful conception and healthy pregnancy.
Jeanne has more extended evening and weekend hours than other places I considered, so I was actually able to keep up weekly visits despite a demanding work schedule.
Jeanne is genuinely motivated to make it easier for new people to try acupuncture; she’s not just trying to get more work. For example, she was clear that I didn’t need to come every week later in my pregnancy (but I’ve continued anyway). Nine months later with a healthy baby boy due to arrive soon, I can say with confidence that acupuncture played an important role in my being able to conceive and maintain a healthy pregnancy. One more reason to try - my teacher in my birthing class just recommended acupuncture to prepare for a safe & healthy delivery by starting four weeks prior to the due date."
